DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

June Carter Cash was found wandering with a younger male puppy (Johnny...what else?) and they looked as if they had been on their own for quite awile. Her coat was so matted that we had to cut it off with scissors (you do what ya gotta) to better treat the dermatitus.  She looks a lot better now.  She is sweet and friendly. June has not yet been spayed but will be prior to adoption. She is heart worm negative.  She does not seemed to be house trained but we are working on it and also on leash training her.   This is a sweet little cuddle bug that loves to be in your lap.  She is great with people and smaller dogs but is afraid of big, boisterous dogs.  She loves to ride in the car and to be carried around in your arms as long as you are gentle with her. She is a totally portable pet.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
