The Delta Humane Society operates under somewhat unique conditions. Most of our animals were abandoned and have spent at least a few days trying to survive on their own, More than two thirds of the dogs that we rescue are litters of puppies that were dropped off in isolated areas with very little chance for survival. We don't turn away animals that have the health problems associated with neglect such as mange and parasite infestations. Those sorts of conditions are relatively easy to cure. They just take time.
In order to make our animals adoptable, we get them healthy and teach them how to be a part of a family, something most of them don't know.
Every animal is available for sponsorship but especially the ones that need care before they can become adoptable. Just a few dollars can make it possible for us to save another life by making an otherwise
unadoptable ugly duckling

into an adorable swan
