Rocky was rescued from under a house in Madison Parish during the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac. He was emaciated and had severe hair loss and lesions from fleas and ticks (see older pictures). Despite this, and what his life must have been prior to rescue, he is the friendliest, most trusting, gentle dog. And he is handsome, to boot! Rocky is laid back and affectionate. He will stick pretty close on walks and listens well. He will bark to alert but not excessively. But, his bark gets your attention, because his voice is deep. Rocky is a heavy heart worm positive. Another proof that his life before rescue must have been rough. He is currently going through treatment and will continue while in foster or if adopted, DHS will be responsible for completing treatment.

More about Rocky
All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
