Learn more about the Bluetick Coonhound.

DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Daisy aka Jayme is an 11 month old, spayed Bluetick Coonhound. She is smaller, at only 34lbs and heart worm negative. She is very quiet and gentle but does bay when the coyotes get started in the evenings. She is crate trained and learning about walking on a leash. She hasn't had any accidents in her crate but hasn't spent time in the house yet to know her house manners. She is very willing and sedate so I would think she would be good. She loves all other dogs and has been good with the cats so far, just curious but hasn't been off the lead with them. She does like to put her nose down and would be off hunting if she could. She listens very well and is quickly falling into our routine. She especially likes the part about regular meals and treats. She was a stray for most of the summer that we know of and needs to gain a little weight. And she has a couple of quarter size patches of hair loss that could have been wounds or hot spots. They will be gone in a couple of weeks.

More about Daisy Mae

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
