DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Red was rescued from life outside an old, dilapidated house that offered her no food, water or love.  She was starved when she came into rescue, but as you can see she's got quite the belly full of food now!  She's about a year and a half, and probably won't get any bigger.  She's got the shortest little legs and grunts just like a little pig!  But she loves people, never meets a stranger and loves to have her belly rubbed.  She also loves her baths, she'll just stand there and grunt while you lather up the soap!  Red is good with all other dogs and cats, she loves to play and romp when she feels frisky, and is housetrained.  She could use some good exercise, but you have to coax her into it sometimes - her activity level is pretty low!  Red would make a wonderful pet for any family who'll take the time to love her and appreciate her.  Will that be you?

More about Red

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
