Our Mission Statement
The Delta Humane Society organized in 2008 to
1) rescue animals from situations that are abusive, endangering and neglectful, which includes puppy mills and backyard breeders and to provide for the basic needs of these animals while they are in our care. We will strive to make every animal potentially adoptable by improving their health, socializing them and evaluating their temperaments and we will provide suitable avenues for adoption or rehoming. For the non-adoptable animals, and only for reasons of insurmountable behavioral or physical problems, we will provide a humane and compassionate euthanasia by a qualified veterinarian
2) provide guidance, programs and resources to promote responsible pet ownership and compassionate treatment to all companion, domestic and wild animals.
3) educate the people of our area, especially the children, as to humane animal care and the importance of spaying/neutering.
4) build and maintain a shelter for rescued animals or house them until the time that the parish provides a suitable humanely operated animal control facility.
5) endeavor to maximize the usefulness of our operating budget, one half of which directly benefits rescued animals.
6) raise funds to support our efforts through solicitations, contributions and other methods and events as the Board of Directors of the DHS desire to utilize.
