DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.
Claire is a beautiful, big, gentle girl. She is athletic and fun loving but obedient and loves her people. She would make a great dog for any kind of family, even with small children as she is very gentle but will get boisterous if you initiate it. She is very motivated by praise and loves to please. Claire is a light heart worm positive but is not symptomatic. She is currently on the slow kill method of heart worm treatment and DHS will continue to be responsible for treatment if she is adopted before her treatment is complete.

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
