DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Zoey is a 2 year old cuddle bug. She is sweet, obedient and has fairly good house manners, although she doesn't like to go outside to potty if it is wet or raining. But, she is getting better. She was just spayed June 24th and is heart worm negative. She and Luke were found together and they both are loving and affectionate. They get along well with the foster's other 2 small dogs. She likes large dogs too, if they aren't too rough and she likes to play with kitties. She was boarded during July 4th in a home with kittens and she drug them all over the house. She is a very sweet girl who loves everyone. She is quieter than some other Shih Tzus and hardly ever barks other than to go out. She loves to play but is ready for a good snuggle anytime she has the chance. She would make a wonderful addition for a family that already has another dog she could have for company while the family is busy as she dearly loves to tussle and play with other dogs too. She is just a great little girl.

More about Zoey

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
