Learn more about the Shih Tzu.

DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Angel is a perky 4 to 5 year old grey and white spayed Shih Tzu. She is a gentle, happy little girl that plays well with her 3 big dog siblings but hasn't met a kitty yet, that we know of. She loves people but seems to prefer men, which would be logical as her first family was an older man that lived alone. He had to move into assisted living and Angel went to live with his daughter's family but her smaller children were a bit too rough with Angel and she began nipping in self defense. Since she has been with her new foster family of adults and older children, her confidence and trust have returned and she is a friendly and well adjusted little girl. Angel loves to go for walks on the farm, likes naps in her crate (or the sofa) and has perfect manners in the house. She is working on learning about a leash but hasn't needed it on her walks around the farm so far. She stays pretty close.

More about Angel

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
