DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.
Charlie is about a 5 yr old Collie/ GSD? mix. He weighs about 50lbs and was just neutered in Jan. He was kept in a pen all of his life and recently started digging out so his owners didn't want him back. I haven't had him but a couple of weeks but he's been good. He even slept with a cat in his cage at my vets for the few days he was there. He is good with other dogs and all of the people he's met so far. He would probably try to mark inside for awhile. All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
