DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.
Brindi is a typical Plott hound with a beautiful reverse brindle coloring. She is athletic, and intelligent but has a high prey drive so isn't good with cats. She is fine with other dogs of all shapes and sizes. And, she is good with kids. She is a lady in the house after some initial snooping but loves her crate and is content to take a chewy into it for a snooze when the family is away. She may be fine in the house alone after an initial acclimation. And when she is out with the family, she loves to come over for a snuggle without being overbearing. She would be a good dog for an active family as long as she were initially leashed when outside. She has climbed a 5 ft fence at her foster's farm. The scents from the woods were just too compelling but she did come back when called.....eventually. Brindi is very accepting of everyone and meets everyone happily with no reservations. She barks very little....mostly at the goats at the foster farm. She has a unique sounding bark......somewhere between a regular bark and a coon hound.

More about Brindi
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after. Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
