DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Alexander is a 6 month old neuterd male GSD/Catahoula mix puppy. He weighs 43lbs but is growing fast. He is very smart and very playful but a bit shy at first with new things and people. He is partly leash trained and learning basic manners. He is kenneled outside most of the time but has never had an accident in the house. He is very curious about cats. He plays kind of rough but is living with a teeny tiny dog buddy that sets him straight when he does and Alexander accepts it with a grin but starts over in a few minutes. DogsXL

More about Alexander

Good with Dogs

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
