Sunshine was found just as everyone either prepared to ride out Hurricane Isaac or decided to leave. Flooding was predicted in our area and many of the people that left, abandoned their animals. Sunshine was likely one of those. She is a wonderful dog. She is bright and wants badly to please. She has learned to walk on a leash, stay quietly in her crate and be good in the house in no time. She looks to be primarily yellow Lab but smaller. She is the perfect dog. And, she wants and deserves a family badly. Sunshine limps on her right front paw. Our vet believes it is an old injury that was never cared for and left nerve damage. It does not seem to be painful but she does hold it up at times and limp when she walks unless she is playing. Then she forgets all about it.
9/19/2012 Update. Sunshine has a bullet in her foreleg that is causing the limp. Our vets believe it has done some nerve damage but she is not painful and the bullet does not need to be removed. Since there is no exterior sign of any wound or scarring, we believe she was shot when she was about 4 months old. Despite what her earlier life must have been, she is trusting, affectionate and playful.

More about Sunshine
All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
