DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Conner (Tennis Court litter) is a 4 month old black and tan coon hound/dachshund mix, we think. The mom looked mostly dachshund.  He is playful and happy. The puppies have been living in an outside kennel so have not had leash or house training. Connor weighs about 25 lbs and his feet are huge, so will probably get to about 40 lbs. These puppies are not as vocal as many hound puppies. Conner has one blue eye. The puppies are really playful and exuberant but they settle down and want to cuddle after they play awhile.

Connor was transferred to the SPCA Ulster County in July, 2012.

More about Connor

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
