Login to Remember your Favorite Animals and Breeds!

DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Buster came to us as a lone, 4 wk old puppy after being found by a dumpster. He cried the whole first night. We solved his loneliness problem by putting him with a lone 6 wk old kitten that we had rescued and was lonely too. They became fast friends and were roomies until the kitten, Cinder, went to her new home. By then Buster, was healthy enough to go with other puppies his own age where he has lived happily ever since. Buster gets along with all animals and people. He rough houses with the puppies but then is ready to climb in your lap. He is very friendly and happy. He isn't house trained or neutered yet. That will come later when he is old enough. He would make a great member of any family.

Buster was transferred to the SPCA Ulster County in July, 2012.

More about Buster

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
