DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Opie was found wandering at the ripe old age of 7 wks old with an injury to her left eye that had not received care, so she has lost sight in it. But she doesn't know she is handicapped. Since she has had a few good meals and is healthy, she is taking on the world. She fears NOTHING as you can tell from her video. She was barking and growling at a 60lb dog (who probably thought she was a squeaky toy)

Opie is a cuddle bug once she has had some play time. She needs to run a few zoomies and then she is ready for kisses. As much as she carries on when she is in her crate, she loves to play with other dogs and kitties (most are bigger than her) and she likes children too.

Opie will be spayed and her eye will be surgically removed (to prevent further damage) prior to adoption.

More about Opie

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

Special Needs: Opie will need twice a day ointment in her left eye until her surgery.

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
