Dinky was pulled from a high-kill shelter out of sheer pity. He was spotted by a mastiff rescue volunteer who went to evaluate a big dog. Dinky was in a back kennel all alone - mostly hairless, filthy and smelled like rotten fish. When our volunteer walked up to his pen (he had just arrived and had been shot with a tranquilizer gun because the a/c officer couldn't catch him) he turned his back, sat down, threw his little head back and just let out the saddest howl..almost as if he were asking God, "why me?" The volunteer couldn't stand to leave him to face certain death and took him on a whim. He was whisked away to the vet - where he was bathed several times in an attempt to rid him of an overwhelming fishy smell (it eventually just wore off).. That was in September, 2011. He weighed in at 19 pounds, and it was anybody's guess what breed he was. The first picture is him now, the second picture is him just after he walked out of the shelter, the third picture is him in his cage at the shelter. He's made great progress in just a few weeks, with food, love and a warm, dry place to rest his little head. As you can see, his hair is growing back and he's just the sweetest little guy! And, he smells more like oatmeal honey these days, than fish!

Dinky is great with everybody and needs a family to call his own. It's estimated that Dinky is between 6 months to a year old. He tested heartworm negative at the vet! Dinky has a very loving, grateful personality, and would love a home with other pets and even kids to play with!
