DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Molly's story is touching. She wandered as a stray around a local nursing home for two years. Staff and residents would occasionally feed her but nobody took her in. A visiting beautician who had seen her before, noticed that she was staggering and sickly looking in the 100 plus degree heat. With her long, matted, dirty coat, she couldn't even tell what kind or size dog she was. She intended to take her to the vet but on the way, Molly gave birth to Scooter, her only puppy. After she kept them for a week where Molly kept her puppy hidden under the bed, she surrendered her to DHS. Molly's spoiled rotten and fat as a pig, puppy is weaned now and Molly deserves a special loving home. She is a quiet little sweetheart with perfect house manners in every way. She would fit into any home but a quieter home would be better as playful children and pets might ovwrwhelm her.

More about Molly

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
