Learn more about the German Shepherd Dog.

DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Blanca is a sweet, shy gentle girl that is still getting used to living in a home.  She wandered up to a rural home where she was fed for a few weeks until DHS had room to take her in. Initially, she was so timid that we were unable to touch her but she evenutually came to trust the family that was feeding her enough to catch her. Now that she is in foster, she has become very devoted to her foster mom and so eager to please that she just seems to wait to get direction. Blanca is still a bit thin. She was stray at least 3 months that we know of. She is good with other dogs and LOVES children. She is a bit overwhelmed by noise and new things but is improving every day. She is quickly learning to walk on a leash and to nap in her crate. We feel that Blanca will become very attached to her new family and once she feels scure become very confident and outgoing. It may take a little time but will be well worth it.

More about Blanca

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

Special Needs: None

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
