DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

Slim is a great dog! He is friendly and playful but gentle and obedient. He's never met another dog or a person (once he knows you) that he doesn't LOVE! Slim was a seizure in a cruelty case and was living on a chain with little care. He was timid and scared. He was  severly malnourished and heart worm positive. Despite that, as his waistline expanded so did his love of people and his enjoyment of life.
Slim would be a perfect dog for any family, even with smaller children. He knows how to play rough
or be gentle and he just lives to please so would be easy to train for anything.
You have to meet Slim to appreciate how great a dog he is. And, now that he is healthy, he is beautiful too!
Slim is a slight heart worm positive. He is not symptomatic and seems happy and full of life. He will be treated by DHS either prior to or after adoption at our expense.

More about Slim

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

Special Needs: Heart worm treatment

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
