DHS does not have a facility. All of our animals are housed in foster homes. Therefore, we require having a completed adoption application on file before we ask our foster families to rearrange their schedules for a meet and greet or answer individual inquiries. And, please be patient, we are staffed only by volunteers. It may be a few days before you hear from us.

HW neg

Hi, I'm Beouffy! I was living on a golf course for a while with my puppies before the nice DHS volunteers trapped us. I was scared at first but now  I know they were trying to help us. I am about four years old and weigh in at just under 20 pounds but I need to lose a few of those pounds. I'm sweet and gentle, but I can be possessive of my caretakers because I don't want to share attention with the other dogs. But, I don't mind those cat things. I ignore them.  Now that I'm living inside, I love it..especially that doggy door. How convenient,  if you know what I mean :) I'm healthy  too since I finished my heartworm treatment.  I am stubborn about walking on a leash. I will just roll over and wait. I prefer to run loose or be carried. I need a fenced yard to play in.  And, I will guard my food too. After living in a brush pile and forageing for food,  you can't be too careful about sharing it!

Is Not Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats

All of our adoptable pets are housed with foster families. When age appropriate, they have been spay/neutered, crate, leash and house trained. They have all been living in a family environment so have been evaluated for temperament and personality. We believe that we should know each pet well enough to make sure that when adopted, everyone lives happily ever after.
Since all of our animals are housed with fosters, we ask that you submit a completed application before  we answer individual inquiries. Submitting an application never obligates you to adopt but we will have a better understanding of your needs so that we can better answer your questions.
